Education of the disabled children and youth with legal guarantees

Our country provides thorough legal guarantee for creation of favourable educational conditions and environment for disabled children and youth.

The DPRK Law on Protection of Disabled People to provide disabled children and youth with the conditions and environment for life and education was adopted as the decree No 3835 of the standing committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly on June 18^th, Juche 92(2003). Later it was amended and supplemented in the decree No 3447 of the standing committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly on November 21^st, Juche 102(2013).

Like any other people, the disabled receive the same systematic education and give full play to their abilities for development of the state and society.

Our country has established schools for the blind and deaf and schools for intelligence development according to the physical and mental features of the disabled and types of disabilities, making it possible for disabled children and youth to enjoy learning to their hearts’ content in educational conditions and environment of high quality.

The disabled can study at universities if they want and after the graduation, start their careers in the society and work according to their abilities.
