A Woman of Practical Ability with High Teaching Skill

Pak Mi Hwa, head of a department of the Faculty of Education No. 2, Pyongyang Teachers’ Training College, is a woman of practical ability with high teaching skill.

Through tireless research, she has developed a cooperative teaching method which help students acquire higher level of practical teaching ability in the subject of Theory of Numbers, and generalized it to all teachers training colleges.

This teaching method of world standard she has developed with the ambitious determination to challenge the world and compete with it enjoys high appreciation throughout the education sector.

She fully demonstrated her high practical ability in the development of e-learning program “Virtual Classroom” (1.0) conducive to raising level of primary education.

With fervent enthusiasm, she developed hundreds of multimedia for mathematics lesson at primary schools and thousands of questions for assessing the cognitive and application abilities of primary school pupils, thus making a tangible contribution to the completion of e-learning program.

In addition, together with the senor students she authored scores of e-teaching references to mathematics class for the 4th and 5th grades of primary schools and had them distributed to all teachers training colleges, thereby making a great service to raising the practical teaching ability of senior students.

Equipped with high practical and theoretical qualification for her major and educational science, she is now active as the head of the national combined mathematics department of teachers training colleges and a lecturer of the central retraining center. She also joined the development of the 2nd version of educational program and textbooks for the universal 12-year compulsory education, thus playing an important part in innovating the contents and methods of mathematics teaching at primary schools.

Her high practical ability as an educator originates from her selfless devotion and high sense of responsibility with which she dedicates her heart and soul to education of the posterity.

She took a maternal care of the student in her class who had come from the Pyongyang Secondary School for Orphans and directed her primary effort to raising the academic achievements of all the students in her major course so that almost all the students of the mathematics course became excellent and good students and scores of her graduates held the academic degree – all this clearly shows her noble trait as an educator, her high practical ability and teaching skill.

True to the idea of the Workers’ Party of Korea that the revolution in education is, in essence, the radical improvement of teachers’ qualification, she has led all the teachers in her department to improve their qualification so that all of them have come the holders of academic degrees, made tens of teaching plans of her major subject practical, comprehensive and modern at a high level and introduced e-teaching plans, thus greatly helping raise the level of mathematics education at the college as a whole.

She was honored to be listed as 10 top teachers of 2022. Now she continues to devote her all to training of future educators, true to the programmatic teachings given by General Secretary
