
Two PhD Medals Won by a Female Educator

Thus, she was awarded two PhD medals in her early 40s.
She made public her dissertation “Study on Dating of Substances formed in the 4th Geological Period, and of archeological relics to be awarded the PhD degree in Geology at the age of 34. Not resting on laurel, she exerted herself to conservation of historical ruins and relics, which is not less important than unearthing in the archeological field.
She read through the preceding theories on conservation of cultural heritages for her study on preservation of the historical relics made of wood, iron, porcelain and other materials, and in the course of steady research into and application of advanced conservation methods, she succeeded in restoration of the 2,000-odd-years-old wooden relics displayed in Rangnang Museum into their original state. Then, she participated in the overall repair projects of Pobun Hermitage, Manhwa Tower of Ryongwang Pavilion designated as national treasures and put the conservation of traditional wooden architectural structures on a new scientific basis, for which she was awarded the PhD degree in History.
In December 2020 she contributed her essay “Dating of the Paleolithic Sedimentary Layer in Hyangmok-ri Ruins” to the journal “Archeological Science” published in the Netherlands. She also contributed her research results to other international academic journals on several occasions. In addition, she developed the new subject “Conservation of Wooden Heritages”, authored several textbooks and reference books and wrote more than 40 essays, thus making positive contributions to the development of History Science in the country and education of the rising generations.
The two PhD medals awarded to a female educator in her early 40s are the product of the most advantageous socialist educational system in the world and the materialization of pure patriotism for living up to the warm care of the motherland.
