Stress on After-school Education
2025.02.14.

One day in November 2016, General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited Samjiyon Schoolchildren’s Palace.

In the math circle room he learned in detail about the operation of the circle, including how many members of the circle there were and whether the students were benefiting more substantially from the after-school education than from the education at the ordinary schools.

After a while, he said to the officials that Party organizations should not neglect the building and operation of the extracurricular training bases, stressing that extracurricular education through the schoolchildren’s palace should be given properly and education of the rising generations was an undertaking to which the Party gave primary importance.

The officials were overwhelmed by the feeling of self-remorse.

They had simply thought that the after-school activities was the responsibility of some people in charge of the them and paid little attention to education at the palace, leaving it only to the relevant institution.

Looking round the officials a moment later, General Secretary Kim Jong Un pointed out the existing wrong inclination of attaching importance only to school education while neglecting extracurricular education.

It was a precious teaching that there was nothing important and unimportant in education of the rising generations, and that nothing should be spared for our children.

Listening to the teaching of General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the officials firmly resolved to steadily develop extracurricular education to train schoolchildren into capable talents with a wide range of knowledge and rich cultural attainments.
