Woman Doctor of Philosophy Distinguished in Korean Language Information Processing

Kim Il Sung University has Prof. & PhD Pae Kwang Hui, section chief of the Faculty of Korean Language and Literature, who is recognized at home and abroad as a leading person of ability in Korean language information processing.

Already in her student days over 40 years ago she developed a new and unique Korean language information processing system with a high ambition to add luster to the advantages of Korean language in the field of natural language processing, and when she was graduating from the university, she was awarded Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize, the highest commendation for the young Korean people.

Even after her marriage, she set the ambitious goal of developing the Korean language information processing, the untrodden field, to the world level and conducted tireless research, as a result of which she made a lot of valuable research achievements, including “Theoretical Basis of Machine Translation for Idea Model” and “Role of Korean Language in Setting International Standard of Word Classification”, which were highly evaluated at national and international symposiums.

She played a core role in setting the International Standard “Language Resources Management: Word Classification of Written Text” Parts I and II and the National Standard “Korean Written Word Classification. She has now been a member of the International Standardization Organization since 2007, and a senior researcher of Qihaer Society of China since 2019.

She has received scores of diplomas and certificates including invention and literary property certificates. For her distinguished service in teaching, she was awarded PhD degree in 2007, and Professorship in 2023.

With the same enthusiasm and courage as she displayed in her youth, she continues to conduct dynamic research into Korean language information processing in order to live up to the affection and care of the Party for her with great educational and scientific achievements.
