National Music and Young Educator of New Generation
PhD and Associate Professor Jang Song Chol, lecturer at Music Department of Haeju Kim Jong Thae University of Education, is a music educator in his 30s who is devoting his boundless wisdom and youthful vigor to the exploration and dissemination of national music and its education.
He wrote eight textbooks and reference books to contribute to the education in national music by devoting all his efforts and energy to the development of national music, and thus introduced them to an electronic music textbook.
He has steadily conducted the study of national music without giving up halfway to write and publish a booklet “Tonal System” on the scientific issues arising in developing national music, delighting the Party. He has also written and published 23 essays, including “On folk vocational music based on the pentatonic scale tonal system of Korean folk songs”.
On October 8, 2023, he scientifically documented the Central TV introduction “Haeju Arirang” about “Our dance and our song, Pride of the nation”, thus making a great contribution to introducing the melodic characteristics of western provincial songs to all parts of the country. In particular, he made a positive contribution to having “Haeju Arirang” listed as No. 1 in the DPRK’s intangible cultural heritage and to academically proving the practical issues for reflecting it in various artistic works.
In those days, he was awarded the doctor’s degree in art and the associate professorship.
Today, he devotes his wisdom and passion to the development of national music with the boundless happiness and pride of an educator of the new generation who was born and grew up in the soil of the great nation and great motherland.
