A Bear Sent to the University

It was on December 29, Juche 36(1947)

When President Kim Il Sung came home at lunch time, he was informed by the guards platoon leader that the people of a local area had sent a big bear to him as a present.

Looking at the bear covering almost the whole space of the yard, President Kim Il Sung appreciated that it was really big and inspected it in detail.

Then, in a satisfactory voice, he noted that the bear presented to him by the people on the eve of the New Year 1948 was very big, and that if it was sent to the university, it would be of great help for the researchers and students to study zoology. And he ordered the platoon leader to take the bear to the Biological Faculty of the university.

The platoon leader implored President Kim Il Sung not to send the bear to researchers and students as it was a token of sincerity shown by the people to him.

Then, President Kim Il Sung said: If the people know that the bear sent by them is used for the study and development of the country’s zoology, they will not feel sorry. If we are to develop education and train national cadres by ourselves, we should well equip the educational facilities and provide them with enough teaching aids. As the university is the first of its kind in our country set up last year, we have nothing to spare for it.

When the platoon leader was still reluctant to move, President Kim Il Sung tenderly stroked his back and urged him to take the bear to the university.

At last, the platoon leader answered yes, cherishing deep in his heart the lofty intention of President Kim Il Sung who had established the base for training national cadres and paid deep attention to education for prosperity and development of the country and happiness of the people.

Hence, the bear once presented to President Kim Il Sung by the people of a local area was sent to Kim Il Sung University, and afterwards, it was stuffed to be used for education of rising generations.
