In our life and work, we meet a lot of people in different places and circumstances.
And it is important to greet each other courteously as required by the circumstances.
Greetings are a sort of mirror which reflects one’s personality.
It takes only a moment to exchange greetings, but it is enough for people to estimate the others’ level of knowledge and morality.
There exist a great number of languages on the Earth.
The Korean language is recognized by the world as one of the best languages as it flows easily and is highly expressive enough to depict a delicate emotion and the slightest difference of things and phenomena.
The polished cultured Pyongyang Korean, the systematization of the characteristics and good qualities unique to the Korean language ensures proper exchange of greetings in different circumstances.
As the saying goes “A flower on silk”, courteous greetings suited to different partners, places and situations give prominence to the speakers’ personality.
But unfortunately, there are some people among us who use improper manner of greetings.
The greetings out of the situation make people think twice about the speaker’s level of civilization and feel unpleasant.
As a rule, even the people familiar to each other should greet each other differently whether they meet in their work places or in a street. Greetings varies according to where, at what time of the day, and in what situation they meet.
Well aware of it, all people should intentionally try hard to accustom themselves to greetings suited to different circumstances.
In particular, leading officials should show examples to the masses of people in greetings by acquiring the high level of cultural attainments and rich knowledge of different fields.
All should use proper manner of greetings according to different circumstances to make our life more beautiful and harmonious.
