One Harmonious Family
In Class 2 of the 4th year of the Faculty of Medicine No. 3, Phyongsong College of Medical Sciences, there is a student who lost his parents.
But he enjoys merry life under the warm care of the teaching staff and his comrades.
Not long ago, on the day of victory in the war, Kim Chol from the same year called on him with new clothes and daily necessities.
When he sincerely suggested that they enjoy the whole day with their comrades, he felt brotherly affection from him.
Actually, he had spent the New Year’s Day with Kim Chol at his house.
He enjoyed the whole day happily under the warm care of Kim Chol’s grandfather, a veteran, who told him a story about the Fatherland Liberation War and his family members who kindly asked him to feel at home.
When he was enjoying a pleasant time with his comrades, Kang Song Rim, a primary students’ organization leader from the senior year, appeared.
Saying that he had come to see how he was enjoying the holiday, Kang Song Rim presented him with different kinds of school things. He felt tears once again in his eyes.
That day he felt keenly once again what gracious people he, though parentless, had with him.
Since the first day when he started his study at the college after military service, Jang Kyong Il, vice-dean of the faculty, and other lecturers have taken paternal care of his study and life and his classmates have thought of him first whenever they happen to have special food or a happy day. They are really his own flesh and blood.
These people have acquired collectivism as their noble inveterate spirit with which they care about others first, help and lead each other, and share sweets and bitters with each other. They are, indeed, the inseparable members of one harmonious family.
