What else is still needed?

One day in September Juche 52(1963) the evening was deepening over Jangdae Hill with the boundless of honor of having had the opening ceremony of the Pyongyang Students and Children’s Palace on it.

Having looked round all the study and activity rooms in the palace, President Kim Il Sung sat on a chair in the lounge and asked what else was still needed.

He had provided the most valuable and precious things to the palace and now attended its opening ceremony to congratulate schoolchildren. So the officials, overwhelmed by the feeling of gratitude to him, said to him that nothing was lacking and needed.

Then he asked about the total investment in the construction of the palace.

When one of the officials told him about its amount, he was very satisfied and said affectionately: We have nothing to spare for children. We suffered maltreatment and destitution in our childhood, but must take good care of our children now.

And he seriously thought over what else would be needed and said: Quite a few things would be broken or worn out in the course of its operation. But we must never call children to account for it. We must set up regular supply system in consideration of the fact that children would break things.

To take good care of our rising generations so that they grow to be the happiest children in the world – this was the greatest wish of the President.

Therefore, he was very pleased as if his life-long wish had come true, and smiled brightly, illumining Jangdae Hill.

Through the windows of the Pyongyang Students and Children’s Palace resounded the happy laughter and songs of blessed children.
